My Lifetime Goals and Plans List

I am absolutely sure that you have goals and plans in your life. We all have. But, are they specific? Have you ever tried listing them all down like what you do when you are making your own travel itineraries? You see to it that you have jotted down all the places where you want to go or where to have that ‘signature pose’ picture, what time should you be in a certain tourist spot, and a lot more detailed what-to-dos. Having read about listing your lifetime goals and plans in Francis Kong’s post in Facebook few months back, I was motivated to list down my own.

Some of the subtitles in my lists are:

  • Personal Goals (also includes plans for my family and for other people)
  • Financial Goals (investments and business plans)
  • Local and International Travel Goals
  • Adventure Goals (like riding an elephant in Thailand, trying all the adventure facilities in Dahilayan Park in Bukidnon)

Remember to be specific in making your own list. Like in your Personal Goals List you may put ‘To learn how to scuba dive before I turn forty years old.’ And under your Financial Goals List you can write: ‘To have mutual fund investment amounting to at least 100,000 pesos by the end of first quarter of 2016.’ You can have as many as you want. It doesn’t matter if it reaches to 100 lists or so, as long as you believe you can and you are committed to achieving it.

Start putting down your goals and plans into black and white today. Like me, you will definitely be elated when you start ticking it one by one with a check mark because it gives you a certain feeling of self-pride and a sense of fulfillment.

Documenting the Changes in Your Life

Sam Thomas Davies’ How to Start and Keep a Journal (The Template That Helped Me Become Consistent) made me think of restarting my own journal and thought of sharing this believing that it can help you make your own, too. Yes, I agree in documenting the changes you are making in your life. So you will be able to see the difference from the past and the present. As for me the biggest change I have made in my life for the past year is the decision of going and working here in Qatar. I haven’t thought about this when I was younger, going to the Middle East particularly. I am open to going to other places, but not here. But then I have decided to go here because I have set new goals and dreams in my life even if I am already in my early 30’s. And this is the place where I believe I can start fulfilling my recently set life goals, dreams and aspirations. As the famous quote from CS Lewis goes ‘You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.’

I consider going here as a big decision because it will affect most of the aspects in my life. On top of those in particular is, having a family of my own. Having no boyfriend or even a sure-boyfriend-prospect when I came here, I could not picture myself getting married yet. But I honestly would want my ‘single’ status to become ‘married’ at the least when I turn 38. I still have at least five years for that, by God’s grace. So for now, since I am just starting anew, I will do my best to hold onto my set goals so I will always be a step closer to my dreams. Dreams of fulfilling my heart’s desire of giving my family and myself a better life, and having a family of my own.

How about you? What big decision have you made in your life now? Was it for your new goals and dreams? Feel free to share and inspire others.
